Mud Hens to hold ‘celebration of the hot dog’ events July 3 - 7

The Toledo Mud Hens will be celebrating the special relationship between baseball and the hot dog with a series of events beginning on July 3.

Did you know—

  • During the July Fourth holiday weekend alone, Americans will eat 155 million Hot Dogs
  • Over the entire baseball season fans will eat over 20 million hot dogs!  20 million dogs are enough to round the bases 28,113 times and feed 9,000 people at Fifth Third Field for over 2,000 consecutive games! 

July 3

  • The Fourth of July (and the day before) isn't complete without a Mud Hens Freedom Feast of Baseball, Barbeque and Fireworks.  The feast this year is a pig roast, provided by We Be Ribs and its great BBQ sauce, corn on the cob, cole slaw, buttered red skin potatoes, chips, chocolate chip cookies, and an assortment of non-alcoholic drinks.  The Freedom Feast is from 5:30-7:00 p.m.  Tickets are $30 for Adult/$21 for Children.  Already have a ticket?  Then its $21/Adult and $12/Kids.
  • July 3 kicks off five days of Fireworks at Fifth Third Field.  Celebrate early!!  The fireworks begin about 15 minutes after the game.
  • The Mud Hens unveil a new hot dog to its menu – all I can say is Holy Toledo!

July 4

  • The Mud Hens Freedom Feast is so tasty- you'll want to come back for seconds. We're serving up another pig roast, provided by We Be Ribs and its great BBQ sauce, corn on the cob, cole slaw, buttered red skin potatoes, chips, chocolate chip cookies, and an assortment of non-alcoholic drinks.  The Freedom Feast is from 5:30-7:00 p.m.  Tickets are $30 for Adult/$21 for Children.  Already have a ticket?  Then its $21/Adult and $12/Kids.
  • We're calling all firework fans to come to the ballpark on July 4.  It's a two-for-one show.  After the game, you will oooooo and ahhhhh to the outstanding Mud Hens Fireworks show.  Then you can stay in your seat and watch the City of Toledo fireworks.  It's great, there's no fighting the crowds but all the great views.

JULY 5

  • Dig out your spider comb headbands, overalls, and gel shoes, the Mud Hens are taking are Welcoming you back to the 1990's.  Prizes will be awarded to the best dressed 90's fans.
  • Pub 315 hosts its third pregame Craft Beer Tasting event of the season.  Beer fans can sample more than a dozen beers from several craft beer vendors including, Maumee Bay Brewery, Red Hook Brewery, Widmer Brothers Brewing, Kona Brewing Company and Shock Top Brands.  Tickets include the beer-tasting, an all you can eat buffet, beer samples, and a souvenir beer glass.  Call 419-725-HENS.
  • Your favorite toddlers from the 1990's—Tommy, Chuckie, and Angelica from Rugrats—wouldn't miss any of the fun from 90's night.  They'll be hanging out with fans on the Main Concourse behind home plate throughout the game.
  • The 90's isn't complete without a screening of the iconic 90's baseball "The Sandlot" immediately following the postgame fireworks.  Share this unique experience with your kids complete with Fifth Third Field popcorn, candy, and hot dogs!   Director, Writer, and Narrator, David Mickey Evans hosts the event! 

JULY 6

  • We're celebrating the All-American Hot Dog at the Fifth Third Field on July 6.                                   

It begins with the Create-Your-Own-Hot Dog Event.  Your goal:  Top a hot dog with as many toppings (you have more than 20 to choose from) and still have it taste delicious!  Don't like it, create another.  You can even submit your hot dog "recipe" to the Mud Hens.  Who knows, it may appear on the menu.   Tickets include the event, an all-you-can-eat buffet, and a ticket to the game.  Call 419-725-HENS for tickets.

  • First it was Chewy jersey, now it's a Hot Dog!  That's right the Mud Hens players will take to the field in the specially designed Hot Dog Jerseys!  Fans can bid on the game-worn jerseys during a silent auction on the main concourse throughout the game.  Proceeds from the auction benefit the Cherry Street Mission.
  • Fans won't want to miss seeing the Hottest Dog in Minor League baseball- Jake the Diamond Dog-perform as batboy for the night.  He works the game retrieving bats, delivering the game ball, and taking towels and water to the umps.   Jake the Diamond Dog is one of the most original acts in the game!
  • The night isn't over yet.  You'll want to stay in your seat to catch one of the best Firework shows in the area.  It starts about 15 minutes after the game ends.

JULY 7

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUDDY!! It's our favorite Mud Hens birthday and he's inviting everyone to his bash!  Muddy and his mascot friends will serve up Toft's ice cream and a fun time for all.  Tickets include Bash and game tickets, ice cream party, birthday presents and more!  Call 419-725-HENS.
  • It's Autograph Sunday at the Mud Hens.  Two of your favorite players will sign autographs 45 minutes before game time.  You'll want to head to Section 119 near the Swamp Shop.
  • Kids can run off their Toft's ice cream after the game.  Its Kids Run the Bases Night.  The line starts during the eighth inning in Section 116.
  • The Fourth of July weekend festivities wrap up with another spectacular Fireworks Show.  You won't want to miss it.
