Tornado touches down 20 miles south of Western Mass

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT (WSHM) -

The National Weather Service confirmed Monday night an EF-1 tornado touched down in Windsor Locks, CT. 

Windsor Locks is 20 miles south of Springfield. 

The tornado carved through tobacco field and ripped up netting that flew over I-91. 

The twister also destroyed the Sports World dome in East Windsor. 

Thirty kids were attending a sports camp at Sports World but were able to get to safety before the dome was destroyed. 

Crews had to clean up part of the dome along I-91.

The National Weather Service says the tornado had winds around 90 miles per hour and was about 200 yards wide.

There were no injuries.
