Fireworks safety tips

Fireworks can be dangerous – especially if they're not handled properly. That's why Phantom Fireworks is doing its part to tell people about the importance of fireworks safety.

Managers at Phantom Fireworks say it's important that you have a water source nearby when setting off fireworks. That can be a bucket of water, a fire extinguisher, or a hose, just in case something catches fire. They recommend using a torch to light fireworks to keep a safer distance, and say wearing gloves also helps.

They also say putting the fireworks between two bricks or on a flat and stable surface to better control where they're going.

"We want our customers to be safe when they use our fireworks, and they can enjoy them for a longer period of time," said Kacie Drommond, with Phantom Fireworks.

The most common accidents that occur when safety precautions are taken are burns to the hands and face.
