LENAWEE COUNTY, MI (Toledo News Now) -
enforcement officials in Lenawee County are spending more time on the road and
less time in the office thanks to a technology upgrade.
cars are being equipped with new computers and new software. The upgrade will
improve efficiency for the department.
no reason for them to come back to the department, they can do everything on
the computer," explained Sgt. Carl Polan with the Lenawee County Sheriff's
$300,000 upgrade is also expected to save deputies a lot of time.
our reports were handwritten," Polan said. "Once they were handwritten, they
went to a supervisor to review, then they went to the records division, and
then the records division had to re-type the handwritten reports."
new software will streamline that process and allow deputies to type the
reports from the beginning and send them electronically.
not just the sheriff's office that's seeing the upgrade. It's a county-wide
effort. Local police departments are using the new software, as well.
