Latest vigil for Elaina unites family, searchers

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

There was a call for help Wednesday night in east Toledo as dozens of people asked the community to find Elaina Steinfurth.

The 18-month-old has not been seen for more than five weeks now. Her mother is behind bars. Numerous searches have turned up nothing.

That's why about 70 people took to the streets Wednesday night.

"Bring Elaina home! Bring Elaina home!" the crowd shouted.

Adults walked alongside children, some of whom were just barely older than Elaina.

The message of solidarity rang through the east Toledo neighborhood along Federal Street.

Earlier in the night, people stood together while listening to a preacher talk about faith in God and that they will never know why Elaina is missing.  However, they have hope they will see her again.

Aside from family members, there were people from the neighborhood who attended the vigil just to be there and let Elaina's family know they are not alone.

"I feel so bad for this family because I'm a mother and I have children," said Danielle White. "I do not know what they're going through right now, but I send my prayers to them every day."
