FULTON COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Fulton County commissioners are looking at what it would take to get a new public transportation system up and running.

They say they hear it over and over again from local organizations and community members.

"More and more people are asking, ‘Please find a way,' to get to the doctor's and the grocery store and that sort of thing," said Commissioner Paul Barnaby. "We are hearing the citizens. They made it explicit that it is important."

So commissioners say they're looking into it. They're taking the first steps into researching and finding the most effective way to provide that service.

Leaders from the Fulton County Job and Family Services Department are behind the push as well. They say public transportation is vital to the success of those in the county who need a way to get to work or doctor's appointments.

Commissioners held a public meeting on the topic Wednesday, and say they plan to have another again soon.
