The 21st company is suing Jimmy Haslam's Pilot Flying J
There is another trucking company, another lawsuit and another headache for Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam.
Haslam's Pilot Flying J Company sells fuel to more than 3,000 trucking companies. Now, a total of 21 companies have filed federal lawsuits against the organization.
The latest is Wright Transportation out of Mobile, Alabama.
The FBI raided Pilot's headquarters in Tennessee on April 15th. So far, five of Haslam's Pilot employees have pled guilty to federal conspiracy charges for their connection in a rebate fraud scheme at the company.
The new lawsuit takes direct aim at Haslam and says the scheme was given his blessing.
It says Haslam and other defendants engaged in a scheme to defraud and cheat the trucking company.
Haslam has always denied any involvement in the illegal actions and continues to say he did nothing wrong.
Wright Transportation is suing Pilot on eight counts including breach of contract and deceptive trade practices.
The suit goes on to say the scheme to cheat customers out of their full rebates and discounts was conducted with the knowledge and approval of Haslam.
A federal grand jury will take a look at what the FBI has uncovered. Haslam has not been charged with anything.
