Volunteers for the new Over-the-Rhine Citizens on Patrol group held their first session of training on Thursday at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
These individuals previously completed the application and selection process for Cincinnati Police Department's Citizens on Patrol program.
Over the course of three Thursday meetings, their training will cover topics and techniques that will enable them to conduct the patrol, observation and reporting of hazardous conditions or criminal activity in their community.
Earlier this year, members of the OTR community held Town Hall meetings to bring people together and effect positive change in their neighborhood.
Formation of the Over-the-Rhine Citizens on Patrol group is an outgrowth of that grassroots effort.
