Rossford school board passes levy measure for November ballot

ROSSFORD, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A building operations levy hasn't been passed for the Rossford School District in 20 plus years, but board members hope that will change with a decision Monday.

Board members decided they will put 4.6 millage levy on the November ballot in hopes of putting up brand new schools in Rossford.

Building would start next summer by tearing down Indian Hills Elementary and putting up a new 3rd through 5th school on the same site.

There was a levy proposed in 2011 that failed, but board members say this time around they got a better understanding of what the people want.

"We need to revitalize not only the community, but with the changing educational needs of the future our buildings just aren't equipped with the technology that we need to move forward in the future," said Vice President of Rossford School District Ken Sutter.

If passed, the levy would generate a little more than $32 million. It will cost a $100,000 homeowner about $160 per year. Voters will decide this November.
