(WMC-TV) - It could be a sign of great things to come. Southwest Airlines sent out an e-mail blast advertising its lowest fares ever out of Memphis International Airport. Some flights are as low as $79.
Southwest offered $79 dollar one-way flights in May when the low cost carrier officially announced it was coming to Memphis.
The airline is doing it again, but this time, there is a catch. Experts say SWA is trying to entice customers leading up to its November launch from Memphis International Airport.
Fliers can purchase a $79 dollar ticket to certain cities through August 11, according to the airline's website.
Travel dates can be from August 11 through December 13, with the exception of the long Thanksgiving weekend, which, of course, is when many families travel.
Despite the catch, traveler Jan Stinson from East Tennessee, will take it.
"So, I just have to get to Memphis?" she laughed. "Can't beat that."
Stinson paid more than $400 for a round trip ticket from Knoxville to Austin with a connection in Memphis.
Officials at Memphis International Airport say they expect other promotional rates from SWA, and possibly other airlines, as a result of the increased competition.
