The father of a 2-year-old found wandering alone in Cheviot has been arrested.
Police say a toddler was found Wednesday in the area of 4150 Harrison Avenue around 11:00 a.m. He was wearing a white Ralph Lauren Polo shirt and blue/green plaid shorts and no shoes.
He was found by a concerned citizen walking in the area. Cheviot Police then searched the immediate area and apartment complexes to locate the child's parent or guardian but were unsuccessful.
The toddler was placed in the custody of Hamilton County Children's Protective Services until the conclusion of the investigation.
Police say a family member saw his picture on television, identified the child and immediately contacted his mother.
Through the investigation, his father, 41-year-old John D. Jackson, of nearby Ruth Lane, was arrested. Police say he left the residence while the child was sleeping inside.
According to police, Jackson stated that before he left the house around 10:45 a.m., he told his 20-year-old son that was child was there but was not sure that his 20-year-old son heard him say that.
Jackson was charged with child endangering. His bond was set at $1,000 during an arraignment on Thursday morning.
Police say the two-year-old was not injured and is doing fine.
