FINDLAY, OH (Toledo News Now) -
may be difficult for the City of Findlay to receive grant money for the next
three years after being labeled a ‘high risk.'
summer, the city had to repay $144,000 in grant money for the reconstruction of
Lincoln Street after it was discovered they were in violation of the
requirements for the grant. Now, after an independent audit of the city's 2012
finances, Findlay has been deemed a high-risk recipient for grant money.
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) was returned to the Ohio Department of
Development because the city broke ground for the Lincoln Street project before
receiving environmental clearance.
high risk label applies to all future CDBG funding the city may apply for over
the next three years. Findlay will also have to add itself to a national
repository of municipalities labeled as high risk.
director of the Hancock County Regional Planning Commission says this is only a
small additional hurdle for the city to cross when applying for future grants.
