SYLVANIA TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Every year in Lucas County, an estimated thirty thousand kids don't have enough food to eat.

They were trying to do something about that in Sylvania on Saturday at the first annual "Hunger Awareness" Family Fun Festival.

The festival is held in a field at the corner of Brint and Centennial.

The event is being sponsored by the group Feed Lucas County Children.

The festival includes food, entertainment and booths set up to promote healthy eating.

Feed Lucas County Children feeds up to 7,000 children on a daily basis and attempts to feed children living in poverty during the summer when the school lunch program ends.

"Right now we've got 86 sites scattered throughout the whole county. Churches, schools parks, community centers. They're just scattered all over," said Tony Siberneck of Feed Lucas County Children.

Up to $20,000 is being raised for Feed Lucas County Children.
