Napoleon Schools ask for levy again

Posted: Updated:
NAPOLEON, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Residents in the Napoleon community will see a school levy issue on the ballot this November.

The Napoleon school board voted to put a 2.9 mil property tax on the ballot after three previous attempts have been turned down. School leaders are optimistic about this one, saying they're asking for less money this time around, thanks to an increase in state funding.

If the levy is approved, it would raise about $880,000 for the district and help pay for operating costs.

"We're going to have to have the operating money to continue to operate the programs that have been highly successful in the district," explained Superintendent Dr. Stephen Fogo.

The district is working on putting a table together to show residents how much the levy will cost them based on the value of their home. They're also working on figuring out what cuts will have to be made if the levy is not approved.
