Perrysburg cracks down on tall grass

Posted: Updated:
PERRYSBURG, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Perrysburg officials say time is up. Thursday was the deadline for residents to cut down tall grass and weeds from their property or face a fine.

All noxious weeds and tall grass growing within the city had to be cut by Thursday, but not everyone complied. Now the city will cut the grass, but it's going to cost residents.

Owners of both residential and commercial lots who fail to cut their weeds and grass will be fined $100, and an additional $75 per hour spent by city crews completing the work.

One resident says he takes great care of his lawn and hates his view across the street.

"They don't keep it down too much, and then their dandelion seeds blow over into our yard," said Jean Schwind. "We got to make sure they don't take hold."

Schwind says he spends close to $200 every year to hire a company to spray his yard to make sure the weeds don't take root.
