in the Oregon City School district go back to class August 21, and many of them
face a big change.
Middle School is one of two schools that will greet many new students this
year. Fassett is now the junior high in Oregon, as part of the changes made by
the school board last spring. The school will house seventh and eighth grade
Middle School has become Eisenhower Intermediate, where fifth and sixth grade
students will attend.
goal is to have all students in the same grades under one roof. They can get to
know each other and reduce peer anxiety. Teachers will also have additional
instruction time with students to improve test scores.
Lonny Rivera says there may be some nervous students, but he says the changes will
make the schools and community stronger.

make sure that we deliver that to them."
Rivera says they're preparing families for the changes. There will be a
registration day at Fassett on Tuesday, from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m., and on
Wednesday at Eisenhower, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
