MORENCI, MI (Toledo News Now) -
A man who police say wriggled his way out of a patrol car in Morenci, Michigan has been found and rearrested.
Police say on the evening of Sunday, July 21 Craig Canfield, 39, refused to return an infant to its mother and resisted arrest from officers when approached. Eventually, the child was taken from the suspect and returned to its mother unharmed. Canfield was then arrested, handcuffed and placed in a patrol car.
The investigating officer returned to the residence for additional interviews and when he went back to his patrol car, Canfield was not inside.
Police have been looking for Canfield ever since, and located him just after 1 a.m. Tuesday at a house on Perry Street in Morenci. Canfield was arrested at the home, and is being held in the Lenawee County Jail on $530,000 bond. Canfield is charged with kidnapping, escape, obstructing police, assault and larceny.
