Tyrann Mathieu will get his first start for the Arizona Cardinals Saturday when the team faces the Dallas Cowboys.
Darren Urban of AZCardinal.com reports that an injury to Rashad Johnson will give the rookie safety his first start.
Against the Packers, Mathieu had quite the debut including a sack, a few tackles, a big hit to break up a pass, a punt return and a kickoff return.
When asked if a few months ago he thought he might have this chance, Mathieu said, "I couldn't fathom it. It was probably a long shot. I'm just putting in hard work, man, and things are finally starting to come together for me."
"You just go out and make plays," Mathieu said. "I don't think there's any science to it. Physical characteristics will play its part in certain situations but for the most part, it's all about making plays and being in the right spot at the right time."
Mathieu will start along side former LSU star and Pro Bowler Patrick Peterson.
The Cardinals will host the Cowboys Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CST on NFL Network.
