Parking changes coming for Point Place

Posted: Updated:
POINT PLACE, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Making ‘the Best Place, Anyplace' a better place is the City of Toledo's goal in making some parking changes. The city will be implementing parking restrictions later this month along Summit Street in Point Place.

The city recently built a walkway near Bay View Park. To encourage more people to use Detwiler and Cullen parks, the city's transportation division will be changing pavement markings for northbound Summit Street, to allow for parking on the east side of the road between Detwiler Park and Cullen Park.

The Point Place Business Association and the Visions of Cullen Park want the additional parking available for people who want to use the walking paths. They also hope the changes will slow traffic heading into the neighborhood.

Point Place Resident Jim Davis says it's a good plan.

"I think it's a wonderful idea. I like to see traffic slow down a little bit along here. The park could use more parking for sure."

While it's still up in the air whether or not other phases of the Nautical Village project will materialize, the city will be making the traffic and parking changes along Summit later this month.
