WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Your First Alert weather team continues to monitor Tropical depression Erin.
LATEST: As of the 11 a.m. advisory from the National Hurricane Center, Erin weakens and is now a tropical depression. The system is moving west in the east-central Atlantic.
TRACK FORECAST: Steering winds dictate the system will continue to move northwest through the open Atlantic Ocean waters for the next 3-5 days.
INTENSITY FORECAST: Erin should survive for now as a tropical depression but may eventually succumb to wind shear and cooler water temperatures.
HOW WILL IT AFFECT NORTH CAROLINA? On its current track it is unlikely the storm will have any direct impact.
