Accused East Cleveland serial killer waives right to speedy trial
Michael Madison in court on Tuesday
CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -
The alleged East Cleveland serial killer waived his right to a speedy trial during a court appearance on Tuesday morning.
Michael Madison, 35, is accused of killing Shetisha Sheeley, Angela H. Deskins and Shirellda Terry.
Police found the first of the victims on July 19 after answering a complaint about odors coming from an East Cleveland garage. Two more bodies were discovered the following day. All three were wrapped in plastic bags.
Madison, a convicted sex offender, was arrested July 19 at his mother's home after a two-hour standoff with police.
Prosecutors said their Capital Review Committee will meet on September 18 to discuss seeking the death penalty against Madison.
