2012 was all about hard luck for the Bedford Kicking Mules. The teams lost 3 games by a combined 6 points. All those close calls have the 2013 edition of the Bedford football team motivated.
"Those close losses have been eating up at us all off season; motivating us to work better – work harder in the weight room, to get over that edge of just winning those close games," said quarterback Brad Boss.
"On the bulletin boards we show the scores: 28-25, 16-14 – those close losses. We just want to get better every day. We can't control the future unless we control today," said coach Jeff Wood.
The future appears bright for the team, with 38 seniors highlighted by second year starter Boss. Traditionally, a player who starts multiple years in the Bedford system thrives in the second year.
"He [Boss] is expecting great things out of himself. Basically we give him two plays and he just goes with it. Our offensive line is kind of experienced. We've got a couple new guys in there so that's the big thing; we've got to form fit those guys so that they can communicate better," said Wood.
"We've got a lot of seniors, a lot of leadership – just a lot of confident guys who work hard and have a passion for football," said Boss.
Bedford opens the season at home on August 30 against Utica Ford.
