Liberty Center Schools want community to weigh in on upgrades

Posted: Updated:
LIBERTY CENTER, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Aging buildings and a lack of space are prompting leaders at Liberty Center Schools to look to the future. They want to build a new facility, but want to hear from residents first.

District officials say the public's input is very important in this process, so they're getting them involved early.

A survey is up online, asking residents what changes they want to see in the district. Leaders say they want to know if there's more support for building upgrades and additions, or a completely new facility. They also want to know what location people prefer, and if they'd be willing to support a levy.

"We take those results, look at an alternate location, investigate having the building here at this location, and then we begin having community meetings," said Superintendent Kristi Thompson.

Thompson says they plan to ask voters to approve a levy in May to fund the project.
