St. Patrick of Heatherdowns school was on lockdown for a short time Friday afternoon as police searched for a theft suspect.
Police say they received a report of a car break-in on Eastgate Road around 2 p.m. Friday. According to Toledo Police, the suspect took firearms from the vehicle, but dropped the guns as people in the neighborhood chased him or her from the scene.
Police say the suspect never came onto school property, but with the close proximity to the school, they decided to lockdown the school for safety.
The suspect is not believed to be armed, but police suggested the school be put on lockdown while the look for the suspect as a precaution.
The lockdown was lifted just before 3:30 p.m. Friday.
