TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -
A huge makeover project is taking place at Mercy Children's Hospital this weekend.
Demolition of the old infusion room began Friday. The room is used for patients receiving chemotherapy at Mercy, and Comforting Hearts is going all out to renovate it, in an effort to put smiles on patients' faces.
There will be new chalkboard-painted cabinets, televisions, a hand-painted graffiti mural by a local artist, as well as new toys and games.
But it isn't just a makeover. This will be an ongoing effort by Comforting Hearts, which will maintain the room for years to come.
"Any financial sponsorship will go to furnish this room," said Emily Hayman, Comforting Hearts presidents. "Whether it's adding additional TVs for the kids, or new games, video games, things like that, anything. Any proceeds that we get will help with the room."
