An important date in our nation's history was celebrated in Toledo on Saturday.
This week marks the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, where Dr. Martin Luther King delivered his iconic 'I have a dream' speech.
On Saturday, the Toledo Lucas County Library held a program celebrating the event.
The march on Washington attracted a quarter million people to the mall in Washington D.C.
Saturday's event included singing, readings, a video presentation and speakers.
One of them was Theresa Gabriel, who attended the march as a member of NAACP.
She says it was a life-changing experience.
"Besides the speaker Martin Luther King, there was the phenomenal, awesome crowd," said Ms. Gabriel, "Multi-racial and the number of old and young folks. It was just unreal to us.'
Thousands of people also returned to Washington D.C. to mark the anniversary of the march on Saturday.
