Toledo Express reports 5th consecutive month increased passenger traffic

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Toledo Express Airport saw its fifth straight month of increased passenger traffic during the month of July.

Port Authority reports for July 2013 show that overall passenger traffic was up 22 percent from July 2012. A total of 14,484 passengers chose to fly through Toledo Express in July, which brought the year-over-year traffic 5.85 percent higher than this time last year. The July performance builds on a 17.5 percent increase in passengers recorded for the month of June.

"We are pleased by the customer response to the additional air service options at our airport," said Paul Toth, president and CEO for the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority. "We are happy to be reducing the stress normally associated with the popular summer travel season, by pairing a less stressful travel experience with hub connectivity through Chicago on American Eagle and access to low-cost vacation destinations on Allegiant."

Allegiant, whose passenger totals were up 56.21 percent in July, carried 7,854 total passengers for the month. Allegiant introduced seasonal non-stop flights to the popular vacation destination, Ft. Myers, FL, in February 2013. Officials believe the increase in total traffic can be partially attributed to the increased capacity from this route.

American Airlines carried 6,556 passengers from Toledo Express through Chicago with connections to more than 100 cities worldwide.
