Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies zipped across Lake Pleasant Sunday afternoon - destination: Humbug Cove.
"This is a typical holiday weekend crowd. We have a lot of boats out here, a lot of people tied up and a lot of people anchored. There are people swimming, having a good time," said Dep. David Ayers.
Behind the wheel, Ayers and his partner, Nicole Yontz, keep a close eye on the crowd.
"We're looking for some of the major violations. Alcohol consumption is something we deal with a lot out here," said Ayers.
Justin Davis and his family enjoy cracking open a few cold ones but know the responsibility that comes with that.
"You always want to have a designated driver," said Davis.
Deputies also made sure folks obeyed the rules of the water.
"The big one we're enforcing this weekend - bow riding and transom riding. This is very important, especially after the recent incident at Roosevelt Lake where the young man was bow riding, fell into the prop and was fatally injured," said Ayers.
Weaving in and out of the boats, the patrol found that everything was as it should be.
"We've been fairly safe out here this weekend. There is nothing to report," said Yontz.
