Eight people were rescued and one person was taken to the hospital after a boat started sinking in the Ohio River Monday evening.
Rescue crews were called to an area of the river near the 3400 block of River Road after a 20-foot pleasure craft partially capsized around 6:30 p.m.
Authorities said the boat was carrying four adults, two teenagers and two younger children, including a 5-year-old. All of the people onboard were rescued by other boaters nearby.
One man was taken to a nearby hospital, however his condition has not been released. Police say all of the people involved were conscious after the accident.
"They were struggling. They were tired, scared, panicky. I know those people were terrified but to be honest with you, it scared me just as much as it scared them to actually witness that and see it," said Robert Collins who helped in the rescue.
Officials did not know if everyone on the boat was wearing a life jacket. It's also unknown if alcohol was involved.
Authorities with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources are now investigating the cause of the accident.
