ROSSFORD, OHIO (TOLEDO NEWS NOW) -

A national union representative spent Labor Day in the Toledo area to talk about the economy.

A Labor Day picnic at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 8 post in Rossford had a special guest – Liz Shuler, secretary-treasurer for the national AFL-CIO.

Shuler says she's working to educate people about Right to Work, and why she thinks it could hurt Ohio families. She says she's also working toward fairness in the economy.

"The economy really isn't working for everybody," Shuler said. We see the working class getting squeezed. More and more workers aren't able to make it in this economy, and so we're out fighting for better wages, conditions, and really, to elevate the conditions of all working families."

Shuler is encouraging working families to speak up, and says things will get better if everyone works together.
