2 people killed, 10 injured in Camp Perry crash

OTTAWA COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A four-vehicle crash at Camp Perry in Erie Township Monday afternoon has left two people dead and 10 people injured.

Police say 78-year-old Jerald Zimmer was driving eastbound on State Route 2 with 74-year-old Rosanne Zimmer. 34-year-old Rosalinda Guerra was driving westbound with another adult and four children, ages 7 through 15. 56-year-old Margaret Cumberland and 59-year-old Anna Murphy were stopped in their cars at Camp Perry waiting to turn onto SR 2. 

Police say Zimmer failed to yield while turning left into the entrance of Camp Perry, and was hit by Guerra. Guerra's car then hit Cumberland and Murphy's cars.

Rosanne Zimmer was pronounced dead at the scene. Jerald Zimmer was Life Flighted to the hospital and was pronounced dead in the ER.

Guerra was Life Flighted to the hospital. Police say the passenger in her car, 32-year-old Alexandra Davis, had incapacitating injuries and was taken to the hospital. The four children in Guerra's car were all taken to the ER and later released.  

Police say Cumberland was taken to the ER with incapacitating injuries. The passenger in her car, 54-year-old Harold Cumberland, sustained minor injuries. Murphy and two other people that were in her car did not sustain any injuries.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. They say alcohol and drugs do not appear to be involved in the accident.
