in on the success of the Lucas County Land Bank program?
On Tuesday, a press conference was held at Buck Brothers
Asphalt and Paving on Avondale. The land bank worked out a deal for the owner
to acquire the property to expand his business and hire six additional
During that event, Lucas County Auditor Anita Lopez
announced through efforts between her office and the treasurer's office, she's
been able to reduce the number of forfeited land sales, from twice per year
down to once a year, and saving taxpayers an estimated $50,000.
That announcement comes exactly one week before the
Toledo primary. When questioned about the timing of her announcement, Lopez

Lucas County Treasurer Wade Kapszukiewicz says the deal
with Buck Brothers is important because it has put an idle industrial property
back into use and prevented another building from being demolished.
