On Monday, the Perrysburg Police Division received a report from a Waterville resident of an alarming posting on the Internet that contained threats against several Perrysburg High School students.
According to Perrysburg Superintendent Tom Hosler, the threats were made before the school year began.
Police started an investigation and identified the person accused of making the posts, but found the person was not responsible for making the alleged threats. Further investigation led detectives to the individual responsible: a 16-year-old student at Perrysburg High School. However, the student has not yet been charged.
Police say there was no evidence that any of the students targeted in the posts were in imminent danger.
According to Hosler, the student has been suspended pending further disciplinary action.
Perrysburg police is still investigating and will be consulting with the Wood County prosecutor to determine appropriate criminal charges.
