SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) -
It's a big weekend for Art Van, as the furniture store prepares to officially open this weekend at its first location in Ohio.
The founder, along with Toledo Mayor Mike Bell and Holland Mayor Mike Yunker, celebrated the grand opening at 1301 East Mall Drive in Springfield Township with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday.
A private party was held afterwards with 750 people invited to experience "Art of Home, Art of Art, and Art of Fashion." HGTV Love It or List It host Hilary Farr even attended the party to greet people as they toured the 90,000 square foot facility.
Art Van furniture is not only bringing excitement to the community, but it's boosting the local economy with an addition of 100 jobs.
"For years we've known that people from the community have driven up to Michigan and now, we are so excited to be a part of the community and we can't wait to be a part of some of the favorite events, like the Christmas parade and other things in the community," said Diane Charles, director of corporate communications.
Art Van held a soft opening last week, but the official grand opening celebration will be held Saturday. Live music, balloons, kids' activities and more start at 9 a.m.
