(WMC-TV) - The arrest of a hit-and-run driver is providing some closure to a Memphis widow.
Ruben Garcia was charged with Malcon Rodgers' murder nearly two years after his death. Mildred Rodgers has waited 18 long months to hear about an arrest in the death of her husband who was killed as he rode his motorcycle on Third Street near Raines Road.
Police also charged Ruben Garcia for driving without a license. Investigators say Garcia was driving a truck belonging to a home remodeling company truck when he hit Rodgers.
Mildred says she did not think anyone would be arrested after 18 months.
"I was very, very shocked, because I didn't hear anything about the case for a very long time," she said.
She says it has been hard for her and her family not having closure.
"It's really hard," she said. "It's almost like someone that left and you don't know what happened ... I'm getting to a place now where I have forgive [the driver] but at the same time I do want justice."
Investigators say Garcia turned in front of Malcon Rodgers. Garcia is being held on a $50,000 bond.
