TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -
Fire crews were called to the Libbey glass factory for a liquid glass leak just after 10 p.m. on Monday.
Firefighters say they had to use water to cool it down then chip the glass leak away. No workers were hurt, but a firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion.
"We actually had to plug up that hole and in order to do that is to get that product cooled down enough to get it to a solid form and that takes copious amounts of water to cool down the product," said Battalion Chief David Rodriguez.
Work is expected to resume normally Tuesday.
The Toledo Fire Department is inside the Libbey factory for a fire that broke out just after 10.
Employees evacuated the plant. Currently unclear what is on fire or if anyone has been hurt.
