The Indians are now less than one game out of both Wild Card sports. They hit four home runs on Sunday and defeated the White Sox 7-1. Nick Swisher homered twice, Asdubral Cabrera and Matt Carson each hit one.
Chris Sale took the loss, he was touched up for six runs on nine hits in 5.2 innings. Zach McAllister allowed one run in 6.1 innings for Cleveland, he picked up his 8th win of the year.
Texas and Tampa both lost their games on Sunday, which meant the Indians closed the game in the American League Wild Card race to a half game behind both spots.
Cleveland will open a three game series in Kansas City on Monday night. The Royals are 3.5 games out of the Wild Card.
