(WMC-TV) - A Jackson, Mississippi police officer became the target of a crime in downtown Memphis. Now boxes of ammo are on the streets.

Downtown Memphians had mixed emotions about ammunition and surveillance cameras being stolen from officer Jerry Shoulders' car this weekend.

"They shouldn't have anything visible ... Let alone available to get in the car," said Memphis resident Kim Adams.

According to a Memphis police report, Shoulders said his car was parked by valet at the DoubleTree Hotel downtown. When it was returned to him the car was a mess. Shoulders' Jackson PD issued cellphone was stolen along with two boxes of ammunition that were hidden under a spare tire. Four surveillance cameras were also gone.

Shoulders said he had no comment about the incident. It is unclear if any arrests have been made.
