It's all fun and games for the students at Greenwood Elementary, but they are also trying to feed hungry families in the community.
This upcoming weekend Greenwood Elementary in Washington Township is hosting sprit week for their students. The sprit week is in conjunction with the North West Ohio Food Drive.
Last year the Washington School District brought in more than 20,000 pounds worth of food. Greenwood Elementary Principal William Colon says the district recognizes that there are a lot of needy people in northwest Ohio and they want to help out.
"Giving back to others is such an important trait to have," said Colon. "And when our students leave here they have it."
"It makes me feel happy when we donate because we're just helping other people that we don't even know," said 5th grader Shayla Haynes.
The food drive started Monday and will end Friday. Donations can be dropped off at any Washington local school during school hours.
