TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -
Columbia Gas is preparing for a $1.6 million pipeline upgrade project aimed to improve service to more than 360 customers in Point Place.
Columbia Gas wants to connect with all of its customers, so it has created a Facebook page specifically for the Point Place project. It's a technique used for the first time in northwest Ohio.
Currently, crews are putting cameras down in the ground to check the pipes. Next week, people living in the neighborhood can expect to see crews get to work.
The company says Facebook users can access its page as a way to keep track of the project's progress.
"We'll offer more information about what's coming up in the next couple of weeks. Residents will have a better idea of when we'll be on their street, coming to knock on their door about the service change over. Just more information in general," said Jason Copsey, with Columbia Gas.
Columbia Gas says the project will upgrade more than 15,000 feet of pipeline, including main lines and service lines. Crews will also relocate indoor gas meters outside.
