Dewayne Thompson, wanted in the wounding and kidnapping of 17-year-old Katelyn Beard, has been captured by Jackson Police. He was taken into custody around 5:45 in west Jackson near where Beard's vehicle was found earlier today.

Public Schools is spearheading a major effort to get voters on board with

administrators are gearing up for a campaign to renew a levy in November. Interim
Superintendent Dr. Romules Durant says the secret weapon will be the community.
levy is not a new tax, it's a renewal of a 6.5 mill levy for another five
years. It would generate $13 million for the district. Durant says he hopes
that a community-driven approach will help secure the vote.
