The Hancock County Sheriff's Office responded to a fatal crash involving a pickup truck and train around 1:30 Tuesday afternoon on Township Road 168 near U.S. Route 68 in Jackson Township.
The sheriff said Joshua Todd, 23, of Kenton, OH, was traveling in a Ford Ranger westbound on TR 168 approaching the CSX railroad crossing, when he failed to yield to a southbound train. The train struck the passenger-side door and sent the vehicle airborne, striking a railroad crossing sign and utility pole before coming to rest on its top.
Todd was taken by Life Flight to a hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.
The front passenger, William Craig, 23, of Kenton, was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS personnel.
