MAUMEE, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A Maumee doctor learned his fate Friday, after facing charges following the seizure of numerous prescription drugs, firearms and medical records from his home and office in February 2012.

Barry Deran was sentenced to 28 months behind bars.

The cardiologist took a plea deal back in July for 30 counts of processing illegal prescriptions, four counts of felony drug trafficking and four counts of attempted trafficking.

Deran still has to be sentenced for federal gun charges in the case. He will appear in a federal courtroom this December facing the possibility of adding five years to his term.

Deran's medical license has already been suspended, but he could lose it completely.
