Leaders with the Lucas County Land Bank hope to find a buyer willing to put plenty of TLC into a home sitting vacant in Toledo's Old West End, especially after the success of another home nearby.
The land bank is placing focus on a vacant house at 2301 Glenwood Avenue, which it acquired through tax foreclosure earlier this year. It was built in 1897 and has 3,600 square feet of space inside. It's available for $250, provided the buyer is willing to make the proper investment to restore the house.
While there are serious signs of distress, Lucas County Treasurer Wade Kapszukiewicz believes there is somebody out there who is willing to take on the challenge.
"Whenever there's a property with historic character in neighborhoods, as vital and historically important as this one, we make an extra effort to see what we can do to rehab and get those properties back into productive use," said Kapszukiewicz.
Kapszukiewicz points to the success of a house on Delaware Avenue, which the land bank took control of and found a buyer willing to restore the house. He's hoping the same future is in store for the house on Glenwood.
