St. Edward Wrestling to celebrate 55 years of excellence
WESTLAKE, OH (WOIO) -
On Saturday, September 28, the St. Edward community will be honoring the school's rich tradition of excellence in wrestling, one of the most successful scholastic athletic programs in the nation.
The event is set to begin at 6 p.m. at LaCentre located at 25777 Detroit Road in Westlake.
More than 400 people who have been connected to the program since its inception in 1958, will come together to celebrate 55 Years of St. Edward High School wrestling.
St. Edward wrestling is considered one of the most prolific scholastic athletic programs in the country, boasting 11 national championships, 29 team state championships, 102 Individual state champions, 375 state tournament qualifiers, 282 state tournament place winners and 67 NCAA All-Americans.
"The level of excellence that the St. Edward Wrestling Program has sustained is unprecedented," said St. Edward President Jim Kubacki.
The event will conclude with some special announcements about the program.
