A groundbreaking ceremony was held Tuesday morning for the beginning of renovations at Price Hill Recreation Center.
The Cincinnati Recreation Commission hosted a wall smash at 10 a.m., symbolically celebrating an "out with the old and in with the new" mentality.
The existing recreation center was built in 1983 and officials say it'll receive some much needed TLC during the renovation.
The $4 million construction project will including a 3,800 square foot addition with a new entrance and reception area, a fitness center that will double in size as well as an aquatic facility with zero-depth entry, spray features throughout and two slides.
The gym at the recreation center will also be renovated, with outdoor restrooms and concessions popping up near the athletic fields.
The project architect, Michael Schuster and Associates, will join contractor CBS Construction in the renovations.
The Price Hill Recreation Center will close for approximately 14 months during the renovations.
