A new program launched in Northern Kentucky to help residents get access to healthcare options.
Kynect is Kentucky's new health care marketplace. Representatives from social service and health care agencies in Northern Kentucky gathered to launch the program and discuss how eligible Kentuckians can use the exchange to purchase health insurance.
Officials say that Kynect will help consumers get information about their health care options and select the plan that is right for them. Kentucky is one of 24 states that will offer residents insurance through a state-administered marketplace instead of using the federal exchange.
By 7 p.m. on its
first full day of operation, nearly 78,000 unique visitors have flocked to
Kentucky's online health benefit exchange, kynect, to seek information about
affordable health care now available in the Commonwealth.
Currently, about 12 percent of Northern Kentucky residents do not have health insurance. More than 49 thousand people will be able to benefit from the new program.
