ADRIAN, MI (Toledo News Now) -
A murder plot came to an end in Lenawee County, and prosecutors say a prisoner at the Gus Harrison Correctional Facility was behind the whole scheme.
According to officials, Lawrence Cinnamon, 51, tried to hire a fellow inmate to kill his ex-wife and her new husband. However, the Lenawee County assistant prosecutor says the inmate who was approached about the plan notified authorities.
Officials spent years investigating the claims and finally gathered enough evidence to charge Cinnamon with two counts of solicitation to commit murder.
Cinnamon took a plea deal in court and will be sentenced for one count of assault with intent to commit great bodily harm less than murder. The charge could tack on an extra 10 years to his time behind bars, which already includes a list of charges from stalking to aggravated robbery.
