MAUMEE, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Maumee Indoor Theatre will be filled with magic, mirth, and ghosts as Dr. Scream's Spook Show -a throwback to the Halloween magic and movie shows of the 1950s - invades Maumee this Friday and Saturday.

Join "ghost master" Dr. Scream as he hosts a family-friendly evening full of magic, comedy, and an epic blackout featuring "live" ghosts flying into and over the audience. After the show, the audience will enjoy classic "Casper the Friendly Ghost" cartoons, as well as the classic horror film "Monsters Crash the Pajama Party."

Nearly 40 years have passed since generations of Americans crammed into their local theaters late at night to experience a classic spook show. Traveling ghost masters crisscrossed the country presenting an old-time, spooky and funny evening of fun, combined with a horror film. Blending macabre comedy, magic, "live" ghosts, and a good, classic horror film, the spook show was a unique theatrical genre nearly forgotten, until now. Dr. Scream's Spook Show Revival is an authentic recreation of America's original Halloween magic show. Part magic and illusion, séance, and classic horror movie, there is something for everyone.

Magician, actor, and researcher, Keith Stickley, has spent the last 11 years researching and recreating the original methods, routines, and history of the spook show. Determined to bring the classic spook show experience to new generations of audiences, he created Dr. Scream's Spook Show Revival. Stickley and his company have been touring the show for six years now to vintage entertainment venues and performing arts centers throughout the Midwest.

"It is a real thrill to be able to bring the spook show back to the Toledo area," said Stickley. "The longest running and most successful spook show of all time, Jack Baker's ‘Dr. Silkini and His Asylum of Horrors' show was actually based in Toledo. Baker toured his spook show across the U.S. for over 40 years, having up to nine units on the road at a time, grossing millions of dollars. It's an honor to revive this genre of live entertainment in Baker's home town, and expose a new generation of audiences to the spook show."

Dr. Scream and his gang of ghoulish ghosts will invade the Maumee Indoor Theatre this Friday and Saturday at 8:30 p.m. Advance tickets are recommended and available online for $13. Tickets at the door will cost $15.
