The Whitehouse fire department will soon have a brand new ambulance thanks to grant money.
The city received $166,000 from the grant earlier this year. The fire department decided to use the money to replace an ambulance that has been in service since 1991.
"The new truck has the updated requirements for the firefighters inside for their safety and it provides safety for the person we have in the back," said Whitehouse Fire Chief Daryl McNutt.
The department has placed an order for the new truck and plans to replace the 23-year-old rescue vehicle as soon as the new one comes in.
